My Interview on Good Grief

The podcast of my interview with Cheryl Jones on her Good Grief program is now online. It’s an hour long and there are three segments, each about 20 minutes in length. In each segment, I also read one of my writings.

We discussed my hiking in Yosemite to deal with grief over my wife’s death, learning from the rock climbers that saying yes to life involves taking risks, the need for everyone, including men, to face up to grief because it’s not going to go away until we do, and the need to treat everyone with kindness because so many of us are dealing with trauma.

Organ Donation

April is Organ Donor Awareness Month, and tomorrow, April 17, is National Blue and Green Day for honoring those who have donated organs.

Most of us don’t like to think about death, or grief, or anything connected to them. We may feel uneasy being in the same room with a dead body. And if that dead person is someone we love, we might not be able to look at all.

About this Blog

Although this started in 2009 as a way to reach out to widowers, because I wasn’t finding much that was written by or about men who had lost their wives, it has evolved to speak about the entire landscape of grief – personal, cultural, religious, and resources to help you in your grief. I should probably rename it to something like All Grief All the Time, or Walking Through the Valley of Shadows.
