Every Wednesday

Every Wednesday, I will post something about grief. Sometimes it will be a reflection on an aspect of grief’s landscape. Now and then I will share from my own journey of grief, because in the sharing of our stories we find strength and build a community of people that support one another. Grief is Not a Carrot

Grief is not a carrot
you eat.

It’s also not a place
you pass through
and are done
for all time.

Grief is a path
we walk
along a wild river
through the wilderness,
of desolation
and sorrow.
There will be blue jays and wrens,
squirrels looking for acorns,
and people
who invite us
to sit beside them
and watch

for an hour or two.
